The State Physician Workforce Data Report is published biennially. It provides state-specific data about active physicians and physicians in training, in a series of figures, tables, and maps that provide detailed statistics on active physicians, MD and DO students, residents, and fellows.

In the past several years, the goal for better diversification of the physician workforce in the United States has become increasingly important. Despite this need, few assessments overall have examined diversity in graduate medical education (GME) and across specialties. This comprehensive State Physician Workforce Data Report, published every other year, offers state-specific data about active physicians and physicians in training.

A series of figures, tables, and maps provide detailed statistics on active physicians, MD and DO students, residents, and fellows. This report is the 14th data book in the Facts and Figures series published by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
